Welcome

Thank you for visiting the Greek Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos’s Web Site. Our parish welcomes people of all ethnic backgrounds. Our mission is to be faithful to Our Lord Jesus Christ, who commanded, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19
We are a sacramental and liturgical church under the jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta. The Eucharist, the partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, is the focus of Orthodox practice and worship. Holy Communion is offered at every Divine Liturgy. In addition to the holy services, the Dormition offers many other opportunities to worship and honor God. These include vespers, matins, and paraklesis services as well as participation in Christian Education programs that we offer throughout the year.
Are you new to the community? We invite you and your family to attend and hope that you will find not only a home here. For over 50 years the Dormition Parish has proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Orthodox community of Greensboro and surrounding areas. We look forward to your presence as we gather to pray and worship as a community of faith.
Are you a long time parishioner? You can browse through the Dormition’s website and catch up on the latest news about the parish in general or a special ministry you are involved with. Or maybe after reading about a particular organization you will hear your own call to witness and serve Christ with them. Our ministries and organizations have places for many different talents and gifts – yours are needed! Whatever great or small the time you can devote to our parish, you do in His name, and we are grateful for your participation.

Now just sit back, start clicking your mouse and enjoy your time exploring our website! I hope that you will enjoy your visit and I pray that I will soon have the opportunity to welcome you in person to Dormition of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church.

     In Christ service,

     Fr. Dionysios Listermann-Vierling

CONGRATULATIONS BASIL!

Our community is very proud of Basil Agapion. Basil, who goes by the rap name "El Greco" has cut a CD! The music is wonderful. One listener wrote this about it: "Heard a few of El Greco's earlier tracks and they were hot fire. A nice deviation from the typical "my car, my watch" hip-hop that is all over the place now. A bit more thought provoking to say the least. I look forward to the solo ablum. Will definitely pick that up when it's released." The CD currently sells in the range of $4.95-4.99. We wish him much success! Basil will be playing some of his songs at the May 3rd Goya Dance here in Greensboro. Be sure to plan to attend!
